As regards the counseling is concerned, normally the Engineering counseling of COMEDK happens in the immediate order of sequence to that of KEA’s Engineering Counseling. It may be noted that during the previous years, KEA’s Engineering counseling was conducted after the All India Medical Counseling, followed by the State Medical Counseling. However, actual counseling dates would be notified once the matter of seat sharing and the fee structure is decided between the Government and the KUPECA.

Coming to the eligibility criteria, the Visvesvaraya Technological University has issued a circular dtd. 18.09.2021 revising the academic eligibility to seek admission to 1st year B.E./B.Tech programmes for the year 2021-22 which is as follows:

“Passed in 2nd PUC / 12th Standard examination with English as one of the Languages, Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with Chemistry

/ Bio-Technology / Biology / Electronics / Computer Science”.

Similarly, the Council of Architecture vide its communication dtd. 23.07.2021 has also revised the eligibility criteria for admission to 1st year of 5 year B.Arch degree course for the academic session 2021-22 which is as under:

“No candidate shall be admitted to architecture courses unless she/he has passed an examination at the end of the 10+2 scheme of examination with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics or passed 10+3 Diploma Examination with Mathematics as compulsory subject”.

Further it was also clarified that all candidates need to qualify an Aptitude Test conducted by the Council (i.e. NATA) for admission to B.Arch Course. Therefore, all candidates who have passed in any other aptitude test in Architecture conducted by other authorities  shall also be required to qualify NATA in order to be eligible for admission to the B.Arch course. In other words, a candidate who has qualified in JEE Paper-2 or any other aptitude test is also required to qualify in NATA to be eligible for admission to Architecture courses and that the

actual admissions shall be carried out only by the concerned competent authorities of the respective states/institutions based on valid NATA score.

With regards to the tuition fee, it is learnt from the newspaper articles that the tuition fee for the academic year 2021-22 has not been increased and there is a cap on the other fees and skill lab fees that will be collected by individual colleges apart from the University fees. However, it may be brought to the notice of the aspiring

candidates and their parents/guardians that the upper limit of last year’s tuition fee was ₹2,01,960/- and this was excluding the other fees & University fees.

Recently, the Hon’ble Admission Overseeing Committee has issued directions vide its communication dtd. 27.08.2021 regarding process to be followed by COMEDK in conducting the counseling. In adherence to the said directions, in brief, some key points of COMEDK process are as follows:

  • Candidates have to register for counseling by paying an amount of ₹2,000/- as registration fee which will be non-refundable.

  • After allotment of seat, the candidate should pay entire tuition fee along with other fees at COMEDK level which will be intimated

  • The candidate has to surrender the seat during the surrender period only which will enable them for refund of entire fee paid at COMEDK

  • If a candidate whose name is in the final list and he/she fails to join the allotted college, they will forfeit the entire tuition fee including other fees paid at COMEDK level since the candidate has deprived an opportunity of getting allotted a seat to next best/merited candidate thereby blocking a seat.

  • Since all the traveling restrictions are revoked throughout the country, the candidate should report to the allotted college personally and complete all the admission formalities before the last date mentioned on the allotment letter.

The above key points are brought out just to give a fair idea to the aspiring candidates. Detailed counseling process document will be hosted on COMEDK website in due course. Also, a separate document consisting the mandatory documents required for verification during counseling is also hosted on COMEDK website. The candidates interested in participating the counseling are advised to get these documents scanned and be ready for uploading whenever the same is asked for besides mobilizing the funds required for payment after allotment of seats.

The candidates are required to refer to the COMEDK’s official web site www.comedk.org only for all updates.

Caution: COMEDK advices the candidates and their parents/guardians against depending upon third parties such as Internet Cafe, Education Consultants, some websites etc. for all COMEDK related activities, be it downloading TAT or Rank cards, choice filling in the counseling and payment of fees etc. which may result in compromising your personal details which may fall in to wrong hands and you may incur financial loss.

The candidates and their parents/guardians doing such activities by whatever means will be doing so at their own risk and consequences. COMEDK will not be responsible for any loss or damage that may be suffered or incurred directly or indirectly in this regard. COMEDK advises the candidates to bring these activities to the notice of the concerned law enforcement authorities.
